Cebu consists of Cebu mainland and 167 surrounding islands and islets, including Mactan, Cordova, Bantayan, Malapascua, and more.

Cebu island hosts over 110 waterfalls, but only 10 of those are often visited.

Cebuano, a dialect of Bisaya/Visayan, is primarily spoken in Cebu City, while other dialects are prevalent in rural areas. For instance, in Camotes, Porohanon is spoken, sharing 87% of its vocabulary with Cebuano, yet it is distinct enough to be barely intelligible for Cebuanos.
